Miley and Bella travelled well and tore around the house and gardens upon arrival. They are loving exploring the country lanes and it's like they have been there all their lives. Good with the cats too.

As you can see, the girls are terrible with visitors!

" Hope all is well with you, the two girlies are doing well here, Bella is actually curled up at my feet and Miley is over with Pat.
The girls are getting to know their way around, also have met everyone here and are settling in O.K. Yesterday they went to the Vet to get their booster inoculations, they had the stitches sorted last Thursday and a general check over the day after we picked them up, they all like them at the vets too.

Have slowly started grooming them, they are used to that so that’s good, Miley has had her winter coat cleaned out earlier so she is quite easy, Bella still had quite a thatch so taking that slower but they both come up lovely, Bella’s colouring is really lovely. She has also found a good game, chasing the squirrels and pheasants away from the bird feeder. Ah she does have one bad habit --- rolling in badger muck, so she has started to learn – No !

Feeding has stabilised they only ate little bits at first, but now know feeding is not a problem so get on with it. They have no problem with Bonio’s and Dentasticks, but seemed not to know other things, now they know it’s alright and they can have goodies.

Best Wishes to everyone there, from 4 legs and 2 legs here.

Regards Stephen and Pat, Miley and Bella X "

Here with an update on Miley and Bella, the pair of Old English Sheepdogs you kindly let us be adopted by last year. Cannot believe it has been a year, we meant to e-mail at 3 months and 6 months but the Hub had a problem and then the replacement played up too, still not really right. Back to the doggies, both have their paws firmly under the table.

They now know all the main walks, but we do show them variations to give interest, they know all the other dogs and get along well, even met the latest arrival today, an eleven week old Lurcher. They love the garden and have found many favourite spots for whatever fits the moment. The orchard is a great hit, they have a walk round, first thing in the morning and again early evening (in addition to the outside walk) and often ask to go in at other times, they readily follow me in there when I have work to do.

All the people in the hamlet like them and one pair are firm favourites, we get pulled in to their garden to see them each time we pass, they also ask to dog-sit if needed, not much at present. If something is due to happen they get very excited and bounce around like two year olds (even Miley) and are never far away whatever is going on. Miley is obviously an older dog (now 10) but will not let anything deter her, she is slower but still gets there and is game for anything. She prefers to stay inside so is often with Pat when she does her sewing or typing. Bella (now 8) still thinks she is two and is active all the time, the garden is her big playground. This last 3 months with the stay at home time (which we mostly done anyhow so is no change) I have been catching up on work that should have been done a long time back, but Bella comes out with me and stays nearby, does not help with the work but likes to be close.

Food wise we have found what does or does not suit them and they now eat happily at 18:00 not at 23:00 as at the beginning. They know when treats are due and are ready to accept but have to be careful as Bella is a bit chunky so not too much, Miley will eat everything in sight, so just make sure she doesn’t overdo it. The water bowl was no problem it seems our system is the same as before so found and used when they need it. They will only use the one inside and will not use the outside bowl, at least I don’t have to check that one all the time!.

This week we should have gone to the Vet for MOT time but that is on hold for a while, apart from their original visit there has been no need to go and they are in good health and no problems. We have let their coats grow to full length, which is the same as all our others. One oddity, when we had the hot weather in early March, Bella’s undercoat started coming out early and is now fully clear, but Miley held on to hers and did not start coming out till May (normal) and still has a little left. We clip the fur around the eyes and backend, but found with Miley that with her hip problem she cannot get down properly so we also had to clip inside on her back legs.

Have attached two photos, one we have done with all the dogs which is at Ramson time we sit them amongst the flowers and take pictures. The other is on a walk having a rest. One thing that makes us laugh is, Miley, she loves her walks and daps along happily at her pace alongside us (we don’t move fast either) then at half way point she moves up a gear and is out in front all the way back. At the moment we mostly go away from the roads in private fields as we also look out for the cattle and sheep for a neighbour, which at first Miley and Bella were not sure about, but now just say Hello nicely to them, we have not tried them out at herding/rounding up that may be too much to learn. With the current situation we have not done the road routes too much as loads of people from Shepton have started using us as a secret walk, not knowing who they are we avoid them.

Both Miley and Bella settled in with no problem, they were well looked after by the previous people and had no issues to worry about and our system was equal to what they knew so it went smoothly. Thank you so much for our LOVELY Girls they are a wonderful addition to our lives and are fully part of the family.

We hope that you and all your team are safe and well, and that you have no additional work from the situation.

Best Wishes Regards Stephen and Pat Thompson, Miley and Bella X Thank you again
