Sad news. Wonderful Pickles, best dog in the world, died last week, aged approx 15. Although we are heartbroken, we know we are privileged that she shared our lives for nearly 10 years, after adopting her from Rescue Remedies. We cant thank you enough for saving her. We want you to know that, thanks to your amazing work, Pickles had a great, fun packed life and was very much loved, and we'll never forget her, or you guys xxx

And as you can see she is lovvvveley. Niall heard of her up north being offered a rescue place until they heard she has chronic ear problem and she was taken back to the pound to die. OK OK some say 'when there are so many ... blur blur ..'. And yes if, when she is examined on Wednesday, her ears are irredeemable and she has to face pain and suffering for the rest of her life ... then. However, Emma has said her ears aren't as bad as she was led to believe and you see the girl ... and know we will walk with her and hopefully she will hear us talking with her. If we can pull her through the other side into a loving family home that we will.

In Rescue Remedies we never go into the economics of dog rescue we stand up for those we can and who call to us on an inner level. Pickles is now one of us ... so pleased.

Fingers crossed its something quite simple and she can be pain free - poor little lamb. That top picture is almost praying for a friend - or a hug - or a pigs ear or a just please gimmee something ;)

Pickles was spayed yesterday. Such a sad little mite who hasn't been cared for, for some goodly time. She is underweight and has poor skin and fur. Her ears are not as bad as we had been lead to believe and Tim is confident by treating her skin condition, her ears will settle. This treatment was begun by Emma on her arrival, so medication and 'more of the same' prescribed..Pickles went back to Croydon last night with a body bandage on to protect her spay wound. Pickles slept in Rachel the new Kennel Carer home, on the bed no less. She dreamed last night that her nightmare was coming to an end..and that her owners were now frantically trying to find her..they will appear...they will appear.

When the truth is that if her old owners DID find her, that her nightmare would begin all over again. :(

Pickles is right as rain today. Ate both her dinner and her breakfast with relish especially because she has been moved from Arden Grange onto Nature Diet as that will be better for her skin problems. Now she is my best friend!!! The one who brings the scrummy food!

I took Pickles out for a jog today. She was bouncy coming out of the kennels but soon settled down. Sat nicely while I ordered my tea. Keen to see everyone. Very intent on hopping in the car when I went to get something. She is still skinny and her fur is sparse in parts but I'm sure that will all come with a bit of care and attention. I'm sure this girl is going to blossom.

Pickles has been learning some new tricks this week. She has learnt heel and is very good at it!
I would imagine that she was taught something in the past as she seemed to know exactly what to do.

Her condition continues to improve physically and I know that someone will fall in love with her when the time is right.
She shows no malice towards other dogs at all and I hope to start socialising her one to one soon.

Pickle's walk out with Chaz today was a great success.
No problem with being with another dog, although she did seem a little scared, just once, when Chaz sniffed her a bit too enthusiastically - got over that immediately though!
What can I say about her? Another truly lovely dog and somewhere there's a family missing out on having her!

Why is that the Staffs greet you in their kennels like they've known you forever, even when they've never seen you before? It's just not in their makeup to think you are a stranger and guard their home from you. I'd trust these dogs so much more than most other breeds, such a shame they have completely the wrong reputation
