Lexie (Lady) Staffie x DOB 2008 - 2020
Dear Rescueremedies: Our last dog was a staffie cross Lexi (Lady) rehomed from you. She was wonderful with people and in the house but was reactive and we had to walk in low density areas and always on lead. She could make friends with large calm dogs but was very wary with small dogs. She hated the muzzle and would not walk with it so managed her without using treats and distancing.
She had developed very bad arthritis over the last few years and sadly we had to have her PTS in early March 2020.
Lexi's Thread Below:
Jul 17, 2012 5:33 pm Current Status Homed
Homing requirements: Lady needs a family who have dog experience to support her dog socialisation outside. Lady does not like dogs to come too close. Lady is proven with young children. Lady is best as an only pet with no visiting dogs. Lady needs secure 6' panel fencing and awareness around exits as with any home.
Her Story: Lady's family reported her as "found" but later confessed they couldn't cope and provide for her any longer. The dog warden ended up taking Lady and her companion dog, an entire male Staffie into Rescue. Broken hearted the Dog warden called us in tears with Lady having been bred from and just discarded. We agreed to be there for her. Lady is foster in a multi-dog household Tunbridge Wells, Kent now mainly separated and has settled to all the trials and tribulations involved. Lady is spayed, chipped, vax'd and fostered in .
Advert: Lady has an abundance of love to give to her people and children alike. She can initially be a little perturbed with swift intros with other dogs but has learned to settle with dogs outside meeting and greeting most outside with a smile. A little grumble, rare but just indicated as a lack of comfortabilty and 'we move on'. For this reason we need dog experienced owners to 'read her' and ensure she isn't pushed beyond her comfort zone which is expanding with time. Housetraining is good with attention.
Lady is a Staffie cross with a dark brindle coat which doesn't show its true beauty on camera and coupled with the fact that Lady is a little camera shy ... be prepared to be ‘wowed’ on meeting. A little shy sums Lady up as her instincts are for a quieter life. She can be left, a little whimpering and she settles, bless. Lady she has moved all our hearts. So pleased she is with us and going to find an adoring family.

Re: Lexie (Lady) Staffie x DOB 2008 - 2010
We are so sorry to read this. We had Lady (Lexi) on foster, with many other canine friends in Tunbridge Wells, for quite a few months and were especially pleased when she was eventually re-homed. Thank you so much for your care of the beautiful lady and giving her such a great and loving home. I am certain you will find a big hole in your life which will be difficult to fill, but equally delighted to learn that you have already given Donna her forever home....thank you.

Thank you for your lovely comments remembering Lexie, I am blown away that you can remember her after all these years. Especially when so many dogs pass through your rescue.
Lexie was the best dog you could imagine having inside the home, she was a quiet but constant companion, she needed a bed in virtually every room in the house because she always wanted to be near her humans. As you know she was not so easy out of the house but we found ways to make sure she got her quota of walks every day, so long as you had plenty of treats in your pocket you could manage her reaction to other dogs. She did make some doggy friends over the years, she typically liked large calm dogs and once she felt safe with them she was a bit over the top with her affection - licking their faces. Sadly her arthritis did get very bad and ultimately the pain medication was not enough so we had to make the really hard decision to say goodbye. We really miss her but take comfort from the belief that we did give her a happy life.
