Hi Lynne

Just to let you know Archie went to rainbow bridge surrounded by Ian and I about an hour ago.

Homing Requirements: Archie needs a stable loving family who can cherish his Staffie gifts. Archie could live with older children but is really looking for a quiet family life. Delights in sleeping in the bedroom and would love to be on the sofa when allowed.

His Story: Archie was living with a family with teenagers. No one was really putting time into Archie and he was passed on to a concerned friend who lived in a bedsit, with children 7-9 visiting weekends which was congested. Archie is neutered, vax'd and fostered in SW London.

Advert: Archie has the most wonderful vibe. He is 6-7 years old & has lived with a family with teenage children. Archie delights in company, prefers a quieter life, pottering around a garden and pleasant walks. Archie was off lead and meets dogs well. Archie is proven with dog savvy older children.

Archie is a brown brindle Staffie with a tuxedo and really needs a bow-tie! He is a little rotund but oh so cuddly. Staffie lovers delight and he could easily be a first time Staffie owners treasured dog. Such a pleasing personality and disposition. So pleased to have him with us and to help him find his family.

Lynne brought us a New Year gift today, a lovely little Archie to foster! A friendly sole who appears aloof and calm, but that all changed when he saw a squirrel! Off he shot, ears pricked, leaping into action. He and Chewie pretty much ignore each other, and Archie isn't clingy of us, so no dramas about jealousy so far.

He's gonna be an easy Staffie to foster & rehome. He's loving the feel of the carpet & (frozen) grass on his skin. Very silky, short hair with some missing on his tail. Probably due to his great tail chasing skills!

He's now settling down & relaxing. Snoring away happily. So nice to see a dog relaxing away from kennels.

Apparently all the kennel walkers were singing his praises, and they were absolutely right. Lovely boy!

He's got a small cut on his nose, but it's not bothering him.

He was obviously a sofa dog, and managed to sneak on whilst our guard was down! He is a fast learner though, and settles on the floor, albeit with a little snuffling.

A mixed report for Archie's first 24hrs. We left the dogs apart in the evening while we were out for 4hrs. When we returned Archie had opened the door and we gasped! Not to worry, he was happily curled up on the sofa and Chewie on his bed. Phew!

Unfortunately, things changed when we were there, as there was jealousy over our affection. Separated overnight with a locked door! Archie is going to Rita, Steve's mum, today. He's attached to us instantly which is no good with 2 protector breeds in the house.

Quiet overnight & no toilet issues.

Archie has had a nice walk today with Rita. He met several dogs and was nonplussed by their presence. Lovely dog to walk, just bimbling along. He's loving her fuss and attention.

He travelled in our car today, on the backseat, and was quiet throughout. He was keen to be in the front, but we convinced him that he should leave the driving to the grown ups! On a longer journey he'd probably settle down, but he wanted to see everything today.

Poor Archie must be finding all this change stressful. He takes a while to settle and relax, instead of following you around, desperate to please. He keeps chasing his tail, which must be a sign of instability. He can now learn to settle into a routine with Rita and establish trust & calmness. Let's hope his new family are out there and want to show him some stability & love...soon! Love him.

Rita is Staffie mad, so he couldn't be in a better place to wait!

Rita's a softy! He whined last night so he slept in the bedroom! He knows how to manipulate people! He is struggling with not being allowed on the sofa, which must be so shocking for him after a lifetime of sofa surfing! Archie has been offlead in an enclosed area with no dogs around, and he doesn't go far from Rita. He comes as soon as he's called, ever so pleased to be close to his walker.

Archie is settling into foster life and loving the company. He is a clever dog, someone must have invested the energy into him. He knows sit, lie down, paw and speak (although his bark is a measly whine!)

He also obviously attended circus school as he is equipped with the skills to open doors, open bins and skin tennis balls. :laugh2:

He can be stroked whilst eating his dinner, chewing tennis balls and raw hide chews. He waits until told to eat and you can take his food away without any problems.

He has firmly claimed his spot in the bedroom overnight - well done Archie!

He walks beautifully on the lead and is good with most dogs he meets. He loves to play with balls, and has killed a football in a few days, tennis balls much quicker!

Like most Staffies, Archie is a lover of sticks. Big ones, ones still attached to trees, he's not particular! He's had a few indoor toilet issues this week. Probably trying to scent the house now he feels it's his & dominating his 'bitches'.

His favourite pastime is looking out the front window, watching the world go by, making sure there are no c**s walking too close!

Archie is continuing to bring happiness to his fosterers. He is mischievous but always forgiven! Here's a few more photos...

Archie has had a lovely week with Rita. They both enjoy their daily walk to the park - he is so easy for her to walk, she can't believe it! She previously had two sister SBTs who pulled all the way and were reactive to everything!

He will be getting a bath this weekend as he smells of kennels. His breath smells too, so denta chews on order!

He has been fussy over his food. Another cunning ploy by this clever dog to get Rita to cook chicken & rice for him!! (I think she's loving the fuss & company as much as he is!)

Sleeping in the bedroom was not enough for Archie. He took Rita's clothes & blankets off a chair in the bedroom and snuggled up for the night on the chair. She now says it can be his chair as he's so persistent in trying to be on something!

We're going to get him a yellow advertising jacket to see if we can persuade anyone in Raynes Park to offer him a home. Worked for Biscuit..!

Rita was only going to foster him for two weeks, but she couldn't bear to put him back in kennels. Unfortunately, she can't look after him in March, so Archie really needs to find that home soon to save him returning to kennels. He has made such progress in training Rita to his ways of doing things, and thinks he's there to stay. She loves him dearly and is desperate to find a good home for him.

She can leave him for a few hours and he just curls up on his bed or watches the world pass by. When she returns, oh he is at his happiest! This is what a dog owner loves the best too - returning home to a wagging tail (or whole body!), licks, and a tummy to tickle. Archie is a calm dog you can share cuddles and a chat with. He is off-lead with good recall, and never strays far from your side.

He has been fine with all children he has met, but not cats! Where's his permanent sofa, walker and chef?!
