Rolo's Story: Rolo grew up with kids, cats and another dog. He found it all overwhelming so the mother took him in to live with 2 other dogs and 2 cats. Rolo needs a regime and life centred around his needs and where his Patterdale instincts are understood. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Rolo is neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Rolo is in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.
If interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and sadly due to unprecedented interest, we will only be able to contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £200. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Rolo's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information: A call from Rolo's family stating he isn't coping especially since lockdown and needs a dog centred family
Rolo came into our Rescue on the 11th June 2021

Re: Rolo Patterdale DofB 01.08.19 Gatwick Kenns
Rolo was passed over into Rescue by his owner. He was very scared. He continues to be frightened in kennels but knows me and trust me so I walk him regularly. He has a half chain collar which he needs as he is a flight risk and will slip his collar and his harness which he as a fear reaction. So I walk him so the tension is on the slip collar so there is no way he can slip the collar. He is very affectionate and I can pick him up, loves a fuss and offers his belly for love. Beautiful boy who needs a responsible family who wont risk risks with him . Also need an simpler home as he has been challenged with too much to deal with.

I had the pleasure of saying hello to young Rolo on Saturday. An absolute stunner of a Patterdale, still getting the feel of kennels and very sensitive. He did however happily partake in a couple of chicken sausage bits which was a encouraging sign and hopefully he’ll enjoy a walk around the grounds this weekend.

Tommy and I were sharing a lovely walk in the woods yesterday when we met Lynne and little Rolo. Rolo looked so happy to be out and was keen to follow Tommy, so we all shared a leisurely walk together. Rolo was very relaxed around Tommy, just taking his time to enjoy checking out all the smells and if Tommy was in the way he was happy to stand close by and share sniffs. He is a dear little chap, already great friends with Lynne and he seems to have a very happy, relaxed vibe about him. Lynne said he can get nervous sometimes but it is early days and he needs time to settle and get to know everyone.

(Since returned)
Anne, Adrian and Luke had a sleepless night last night and travelled south to meet their next Patterdale. Rolo didn't disappoint and really took to his new family and was soon heading home having spent just a week with us.

What a great story, just a week in kennels and off to a happy new home. Good luck Rolo, we so hope you have as lovely a life and new start as our two RR boys, little Louie the Brave almost 17 months ago and tiny Teds, who joined Sirius, the chief of our mini pack of 3 gorgeous black Patts, all the same breed but SO very different in their appearance and personalities, but all of them a bundle of love, affection and fun. Bless all the staff and volunteers at RR, for everything u give so willingly to save the lives of these really special little dogs!

A quick update on rolo thankfully his kennel cough settled pretty quickly but to be on the safe side no nose to nose contact with doggie chums yet just a brief walk by and on the whole he has been quite polite
His favorite place seems to be in the garden chasing a ball or keeping a watchful eye on woodpigeons...heavy traffic is still a work in process though..early days and no rush
