Olive's Story: Olive was found abandoned and unclaimed within a council pound as a 16 year old Patterdale. Her age was estimated when she was chipped in Jan 2008. Olive was found with an injury to her head, the vet treated her and removed most of her teeth whilst under. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Olive Is neutered, chipped, and vaccinations are in progress. Olive is in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Olive's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information: 26.3.19: Hi I am trying to find a terrier experienced rescue space for a 17 year old patterdale (chip states this is her age) found as a stray, address checked but occupants stated they had lived there for 4 years and she wasn't their dog. Has served 7 days via council but when found had a severe head wound which was badly infected and she required immediate surgery, also had a dental and multiple extractions whilst under and her mouth was so bad (which the local council funded) A friend of mine fostered her whilst she recovered, she has recovered remarkably well, given her age. She is a typical busy patterdale (despite her age) a requires an owner with some understanding of the breed. She is very food orientated and can be quite vocal, she is not keen on other dogs and would be better homed as an only dog in my opinion. She is very nice natured but I do wonder if she has been a working dog? She is currently in the north west but could arrange transport if a space can be offered.

She has had her first vacs last friday 22.3.19 also she has a stitch still in her lower jaw due to slight fracture from dental that will need taking out in 3 weeks (the vet that operated advised this) all vet notes can accessed...I just want this girl to have the best chance of getting a home as soon as possible.
Many thanks
Adele

Little Olive is a real sweetie. She is very spritely for her age and has real character and spirit. We had a lovely time yesterday wandering around, exploring the woods. Olive enjoys having a good sniff about. She was very interested in Chris who was running around having a lovely time in the paddock but other than wanting to go and have a closer look, she did not bark or make any noise.
I hope the photos give a glimpse of her character and spirit.

Olive is a beautiful gentle girl, you get a lovely greeting from her, despite her age she walks so well. She takes treats very gently, I picked her up, when we came across Pablo, she was happy to be picked up, she did not make a noise. This beautiful girl shouldn't be in kennels at her age, she needs a loving home with her own sofa Heart fill with love.gif]

hard to believe this sweet charming dog is 16 years old if you forget about the grey furry face - olive was very pleased to be going out but also v calm she walks so easily no pulling but shes also no slouch we soon left little harvey trailing in our wake and we had a lovely walk boy she has a great temperament and character and we def want to walk her again next time but also really hoping we can't because her retirement or foster home has come along

Had the loveliest of walks with darling Olive today. She was my last walk of the day and I'd thought she would be my slowest, how wrong was I. As others have said she is rather a sprightly girl, she spotted Deano in the paddock and looked like she wanted to join in the fun, then a black bird flew out from the undergrowth and Olive tried to give chase!
Olive loves a treat, unfortunately I ran out half way through our walk and she kept looking up at me expectantly, I felt awful but I made up for it when we got back to her kennel, I grabbed some extra treats and left Olive munching on them.
Olive will make a wonderful companion, she's certainly not demanding, still enjoys a gentle walk and of course a tasty treat.
I will come better prepared with treats next time, but I'm really, really hoping that Olive finds her forever home before that :crossfingers.gif: angel13.gif]

Olive had a lovely walk today meeting 2 other terriers and one was in her face but she discretely stepped back and happily walked alongside with their attention still focused on her. What a Star!

Cannot believe I forgot to mention. When I say I left Olive munching on her treats, this was achieved on the second attempt, the first attempt saw Olive making a bid for freedom! I did what I do with all the dogs when returning them to their kennel, teats on bed and swift exit, I closed her kennel door, looked down and Olive was beside me! I promise you that this has never happened before and Olive was happy to be escorted back, the lovely kennel girls had changed her bedding and it was all lovely and cosy and this time she was left happily munching on her treats! Olive is certainly sprightly angel13.gif]

Olive captivated everyone she met but especially Katie and Charlotte who wanted immediately to take her home and care for her. Peter and Felicity were very well received by Olive as with Hoogha the cat...she is a darling and now has a comfy home and a family of her very own.
