Rusty's Story: Rusty's previous owner has health issues and felt unable to offer him the sort of life he needed. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Rusty will be neutered by his new family when he is old enough. This will be in the contract with our Rescue. Our rescue dogs must never be used for breeding. Rusty was less than three months old when he came to us. Rusty is chipped, and vaccinations are in progress. Rusty is in foster in New Romney whilst he awaits his new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Rusty's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information:
John was approached and asked if our Rescue could help little Rusty... he was on John's lap by the end of the afternoon!

The vet reckons that Rusty is 12 or 13 weeks old and is in good health. As befits any puppy he is a lively little chap, but weighs only 1.9Kg....the size of a bag of sugar. He loves nothing more than chasing round the sitting room floor with something in his mouth, scrambling onto one of the settees or wriggling around on your lap....he will certainly give you a lot of fun and, probably, some gentle nips, too, with his razor sharp "milk" teeth!!

I can't understand why Rusty is still with us after about a week....I really thought he would be snapped up immediately he appeared on the RR website....he is the most adorable little lad imaginable. I have to admit that he lives in a large crate as the other residents look upon him as a tasty meal!!! But we take him out every couple of hours for a good run round the annex and the garden. When he first started to go outside he was quite nervous and stayed beside us, but now he is perfectly happy to run the full length of the garden and then hares back again to find out where we've got to.

He had his first vaccination last week and was a little off colour and not eating for a couple of days, but he's back to his normal lovely naughtiness now. He took his paste Panacur like a good boy and he was a really wriggly boy with his Advocate, but it's all done and we're just waiting for his second vaccination before taking him out with his new, minute harness, and matching lead and collar.

He really will benefit from a home of his own where he can learn proper house training ….he does try, but he's not too careful yet where he performs!!

We rarely have such young dogs come in unless, of course, the puppies are born in kennels....perhaps that's why he's still here....he's a really super little boy.

Rusty is going for a drive on Sunday morning to meet an RR Lakie Cross (Scrabble, now known as Nobby) who flew the nest a couple of years ago and, of course, mummy, daddy and their teenage girls. Good luck, little lad!
