Current Status: Homed
Marley's Story: Marley was found stray. His microchip revealed at least two homes, each with no commitment - just selling on - and Marley was eventually abandoned. We offered a Rescue place and saved Marley's life. Marley arrived in November 2014, and has matured in our Rescue. His history with us shows he has progressed massively and is so ready for his forever home. Marley is now neutered and fully vaccinated. He was in boarding kennels near Guildford awaiting his new family.
Marley loves people. He is a big baby, melting hearts. He nestles into you for strokes and cuddles. Marley can be bouncy in the home initially and excited receiving visitors. Marley has crate phobia and has probably been abused by being shut in one for too long. He can be a bit chewy and needs to work through this phase with Kongs and other safe chews; he loves human company and direction and would thrive in a companion home. He can be a little leapy, occasionally mouthy when enthused, so not for small children. He loves travelling and feels secure walking beside you. Marley also loves sofa lounging, especially when it's with his people. He would enjoy his own garden for play time and zoomies.
Marley lacks self-confidence around other dogs. Marley will need an experienced owner to keep him even-keeled, and focus his attention on confidence building, socialisation, play, and learning. Marley wears a muzzle in public as he can get stressed if challenged by another dog. He will calm and settle, as this is a fear reaction and has no malice. Marley can be left for short periods, and would thrive in an active, dog-centred home.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Marley's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information:
Lynne please can you help this boy is on a fine line before PTS. 2 years old, been in 2 homes already. Very nice natured, likes other dogs, over excitable. Will chew if left for a long time. Will be neutered & vaccinated. Michelle ADM We came forwards for Marley and I collected him in the late afternoon and he happily travelled in the front passenger seat as we sped through the bright lights of the City of London. Marley has a wow factor and hopefully will be homed soon.
