Alfie had a little walk out with Sarah yesterday. He was keen to explore and make friends. He is such an endearing little character he ended up with rather a lot of photos but seems a shame not to share them all.

Met and walked this gorgeous boy for the first time today. He chose a toy from the cupboard - a fluffy rabbit and trotted round with it in his mouth. Great little dog.

I had my second walk of the week with Alfie today. He exited his pen with no trouble but was very excited. He likes to go to the shed for a toy and then to carry the toy round for almost the entire walk. Today we walked with Linda and Tigga as I was interested to see how Alfie would react to walking with another dog. He seemed to really quite enjoy it and took no notice of other dogs we met on our way. It was another great walk. Once back in his pen he politely took a Thursday bone off me and went to his bed to eat it. Let's hope this great little terrier isn't with us for too long.

jan took alfie out on sunday and what a delight he is to walk - so friendly and so well behaved he enjoyed a 90 min walk with a few drink stops and was still motoring at the end - he is going to make a great family dog

I had the absolute pleasure of taking Alfie for a walk yesterday. I had been told this little boy likes to carry a toy around with him so took one with me (not realising that he gets to chose his own!!). He was so happy to see the toy I was almost an irrelevance. Toy in mouth, leads clipped on and we were off. Alfie is an enthusiastic walker and likes to set a good pace, keeping the leads taut. He likes to stop for sniffs which he manages by manoeuvring himself around so he doesn't have to let go of his toy (super cute). He did drop it a couple of times to reposition it in his mouth, and as we were approaching the kennels, but I suggested he might like to pick it up again, and bless him, he did! Alfie was a bit scared of the traffic that rushed past us when we were walking beside the road. Not bothered by cars but the big lorries and a tractor and trailer going very fast caused him some anxiety. He took no notice of other dogs we passed and was a total delight to walk. Expect a brisk walk

I’ve been looking forward to taking Alfie out since he came in and today was the first chance to get to know the little chap. To say Alfie was excited to go out was an understatement, with plenty of jumping, yipping and yapping as we got leashed up. Once out, Alfie was off like a rocket and is definitely one for the pacier walkers. I partnered up with Rachel and Stan and there was really good compatibility between the two dogs as they surged on.
Alfie was really pleasant with people we came across, wagging his tail at some children which seemed to show he’s maybe been living with a family at some stage. He was non-reactive to other dogs, including Stan, as he went about his business. On the other hand, any sighting of a squirrel and he was off again, yipping to get at them.
Photos were few and far between as Alfie was so busy moving there was little time for posing. We did manage to sneak a couple though. Great dog and looking forward to taking him out again soon.

Alfie and I had another lovely walk today. He showed me quite clearly that he expected to choose his own toy to take with him, stopping by the door of the shed where they are kept, however he chose an enormous pink teddy that was somewhat bigger than him, so I persuaded him to change it for a smaller and much more manageable one. Alfie loves his walks, Alfie is very fixated on squirrels! There were several in the woods today and Alfie dropped the teddy and yelped piercingly to let me know that there were SQUIRRELS, did I see them? SQUIRRELS!!!! Once the squirrels various had disappeared from view Alfie picked up teddy again and we went on our way. Alfie is a very typical terrier, with a lot of energy, a high prey drive (for squirrels for sure) and a charming personality.
