Current Status: Gone to another Rescue

Pickle's Story: Pickle grew up as an only dog. 3 years ago a baby became a feature of her owner's life. Pickle has not coped with the unpredictability of the young child and they have been separated in hope...but alas her family have decided she needs more freedom in her home and to return to a child-free environment. She did have 2 other terriers stay and walk with Pickle but great care afforded. Butter wouldn't melt.. bless her. One Eddie both got more possessive over space and toys. Pickle is well trained but terrier to her paw tips can snap and has drawn blood if pushed, needs terrier savvy and to be respected with her space and carefully introduced to incomers.. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place. Pickle is neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated, wormed etc. Pickle's family would like to home her via their home to avoid kennelling whilst awaiting her new family.

If interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and sadly due to unprecedented interest, we will only be able to contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £200. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Pickle's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information: Pickle lives within a mirage of 5 stair/ dog gates to keep separation between her and the toddler in her life. Pickle is a beauty but is a terrier with character who needs savvy handling and respect. Full history and careful handover from family.

Pickle came on to our books on the 28th January 2021

Well he is a bit of a stunner and a true terrier by the sound of his write up??! Nothing a terrier fan will be daunted by as those of us lucky enough to share our lives with these small dynamos will know love4.gif

Pickle has been enjoying the recent snow and all the resulting mud. She loves to catch a snow ball and definatly loves a stomp in the woods when its muddy and wet, sniffing around all the fallen trees and giving chase to the ocasional squirel.

We have been working closely with a behaviouralist for Pickle. We are currently working on playing games that give her more trust in hands as she can be nervous of hands from living with a three year old child. She also has games to help her have a vent for her natural chase instinct in a bit to help minimise the risk of her being to interested in small toys and hands passing her in the house. Along with a few other exercises she is doing well and very happy curently laying in the sunny spot on the sofa.

Pickle is doing well and has been very happy playing in the recent sun shine. We have continued working with a behaviourist, working on Pickles quirks . She is still living with us and our son, she still dose not like children and we are working on her reactivnes through a series of games and desensatisation exercises. She is very loving and loves to cuddle up on the sofa of an evening.
