Maximus' Story: Maximus' owner took him in from a friend to join his own Patterdale. The family then got a Lurcher pup. Maximus also received in a visiting cocker spaniel and Patterdale. The 3 dogs have had fights and the family decided Maximus should be rehomed with reluctance. Maximus has lived with a young child and older child. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Maximus is neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Maximus is in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Maximus and his tennis ball!! We had some fun!
I took little Maximus out for the first time yesterday. He was very pleased to be heading out into the changeable weather and, once we had the leads on, off we trotted. Maximus is a typical busy terrier.. lots of sniffing and high energy walking. After a fairly long walk we went into the paddock and he enjoyed teasing me with his tennis ball and having a good run around. Maximus is a young boy who really deserves a home that can help him grow and enjoy his best terrier life.

I fell in love with this happy young boy as soon as he came in, just realised that my post disappeared ... so ...
Maximus is enthusiastic, intelligent, trainable, loves people, already knows some commands, is super company & really wants to please!
We had such fun in the paddock. He was so happy to come out with me, when I let him off the lead he bounded about briefly then had a good sniff about. Maximus watched me intently (one eye firmly in me whilst sniffing!) Every time I trotted off to try & hide, he rushed back over to me for praise & a quick stroke/body rub. He sat for a bit of sausage (I'm sure he has been taught that). Within 10 minutes he would lie down... and stay there while I dropped sausage rewards! Maximus was very gentle in taking treats. I didn't want to get him over excited but I threw a ball for him which he quickly retrieved. Happy for me to hold it, I wouldn't play tug with it. When I turned my back & ignored him, he dropped the ball. He sat and stayed briefly, while I slowly picked up & threw the ball again. I love that Maximus can be calm & really tries to please! Good boy Max! If a terrier family were prepared to train & love this active youngster, he'd be the best companion! Handsome too love4.gif

Love love love this boy . Every time I say his name I want to sing it...
what a great dog 🐕, very engaged.
He was very shouty coming out of the kennel block telling his kennel mates off as we left .
As soon as we got to the paddock he couldn’t wait to let off some steam and chase the balls .
After a run around off lead in the paddock we set off for our walk.
He absolutely loves his tennis balls , he carried it all the way and it definitely helps him passing other dogs . I guess it’s like his comfort blanket .
Thoroughly enjoyed my time with Maximus today....oh and I have to mention he loves water and has to make a point of walking through every single puddle he came across 😂

I took little Maximus out for the first time today. We had a lovely game of ball and then tug-of-war, in the paddock followed by a walk. He carried his little teddy the whole way round. He was easy to walk and behaved very well when we met other the dogs. He’s a lovely little character.

Maximus is a lively fella! He gets super excited about going out for a walk/play. I took him into the exercise area for a game with the ball, he was completely unperturbed by the rain which was really heavy at times. After a while we went for a walk down by the river where Maximus enjoyed a brisk walk. He is a strong dog but does not pull, typical terrier alert to what`s going on around him. He is an intelligent dog that would suit a home with someone who can offer him playtime as well as walks. I like his lovely brown colouring.

Today was the first time I have walked Maximus and, my goodness, what a treat I was in for! He greeted me with such joy and enthusiasm but was quite easy to harness despite his excitement. He has lots of energy but settled down to a nice quiet walk despite the rain which was coming down in buckets. He really seemed to enjoy the company of Roco - another gorgeous patterdale - and fellow walker Tricia. Once back in his pen he made a bee line for his breakfast and snaffled it up in super quick time. He really loved his sausage treats after that. A great little dog. Kiss of love.gif

It was my first time actually walking little Maximus today although I have been out with him when he was walked by another walker. He is very excited when you go into him and he can mouth a little bit but nothing too bad it is just a mixture of energy, excitement, and anticipation.
He had been a little monkey overnight by chewing off one of his harnesses (don`t think he liked the pink colour 0002.gif] ) so I had to fit him with another one and then we were off and had a very nice walk with kennel buddy Rocco and Linda. He was a bit fizzy to start with just getting up the road but literally within 5 minutes he had calmed down and walked very nicely really enjoying his walk and being a typical terrier investigating all the smells out there. He is a cute little fella who would benefit from a terrier savvy owner and being kept busy.

Took Maxi out today . Had a lovely time
He’s very hyped in the kennel environment, he just loves us going to see him and knows when we do he’s going out for a walk so it takes a while to get his harness on as he’s SO wriggly .
He mouths a bit on handling his harness and leads but nothing we can’t handle and it’s purely the kennel environment.
Once we are off site he’s lovely and calm and in true Pattie style likes to explore EVERYTHING ...
he had a lovely time just trotting along , stopping to sniff . Half way round we met up with Terry and Genie and Tamsin and Jack.
Maximus became excited and pulled towards them . He just wanted to be with them . We soon figured out he likes to be in front 😂
He’s a lot calmer on his own without distractions but certainly would enjoy the company of dogs on his walks .
