Roco's Story: Roco was purchased as a puppy 'as a chihuahua!' The couple knew nothing about terriers or PATTERDALES! Sadly Roco's owners have now split and Roco has been left long hours. Roco had had very little socialisation but now has doggie friends. He is a sensitive soul and takes a little time to trust. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Roco is neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Roco is in boarding kennels near Gatwick then in foster as an only dog whilst awaiting his new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Roco's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information: Roco was surrendered into Terrierrescue on the 14th April 2019

It was an absolute pleasure to walk Roco today. He was nervous when having his leads attached, but once out and about you realise this daring boy really hasn't seen much of the big, wide world.
He waited so very patiently for new walker Katy and Deano to join us, following at a distance. Roco did check Deano out a few times but really wasn't that bothered, he had more important things to do, like explore.
Seeing Roco experience new things was just wonderful, he was so sweet, when unsure he will do a little excited jump, seeing this boy jump after butterflies will truly make your heart melt.
Roco loves the stream, again quite new for him but I reckon he would have stayed much longer had we not had Deano waiting patiently for us to catch up.
Really didn't want to take Roco back, but left him happily in his kennel with loads of treats Heart fill with love.gif]

a darling darling DARLING boy. He's SO VERY sweet. angel13.gif] He is bouncy when you go up to his door but as soon as you are in, he calms right down so that it's quick sticks to lead him up and get out. He's an absolute delight to walk - he prances and has a little sniff here and little sniff there. He's VERY responsive to his name - when you call him, he turns round and looks at you with his gorgeous eyes. He takes treats extremely gently and I sort of got him doing a sit and paw. He seems very willing to trust people and seems to be a very very happy little dog. love4.gif love4.gif

I💖💝 this boy. I know he is extremely bouncy when you go up to his kennel but once you are inside, I find that he becomes quite submissive and so gentle. I find him very easy to get out ignoring is it Harvey opposite him? He's such a happy little boy, prancing along, picking his feet up and wagging his tail. We met several dogs and he seem interested to say hello and was very calm in passing, even when Buds was having a bit of a growl at him and a member of the public's dog was very reactive to him. He's very responsive to his name and loves to come in for strokes/rubs of the ears. When back in his kennel, I got some lovely "sits" for the last of my sausages. Love love love this gentle pupski.

April brought Roco out to say hello this weekend and what a sweet little boy he is! He straight away sought out Sarah and myself for cuddles while we sat on the grass then was more than happy to accept belly rubs from all of us! First impressions with Roco seems like he's a fun, friendly boy! He was very happy to cuddle April too 💕

I met Roco for the first time this afternoon, when I entered his kennel he wasn’t as nervous as I thought he was going to be, he wasn’t at all worried when I clipped his leads on. We walked through the woods, he is a very alert boy and is very interested in the squirrels. He did make me laugh as to get a better view of creatures moving around in the undergrowth he stood up on his hind legs and walked a few steps forward like a meerkat. He has a lovely temperament and enjoys a fuss being made of him. When we got back to his kennel he enjoyed his sausage treats. love4.gif

Roco is a firm favourite and I always pop my hand into his kennel when I walk by to give him a head scratch.
Walking Roco is a real pleasure, he has got a little naughty in demanding to be picked up and cuddle, but I cannot resist.
As per Natalie's post earlier, he is good meeting strangers and although he's a little quiet and slow while he susses them out he loves attention so wants to make friends.
Roco has so much potential and is a good companion from the offset, he'd make a great addition to a home.

I just love seeing him blow bubbles in our local stream Kiss of love.gif but hope he finds his people soon!

Roco is adorable, such a happy dog, he is very easy to get of the kennels. He loved the attention from everyone setting up the stalls for the charity day. Roco is very easy on the lead, no reaction to other dogs. I spent most of my time giving him tummy rubs in the field, he was loving the sun on him. With his lovely nature he would make a wonderful companion for a family to take him out on adventures Heart fill with love.gif]

Dear little Roco had me smiling from the minute I stepped into his kennel. He sat down and waited for me to put the harness on and then off we went. The minute we left the kennel he was rolling in the grass, such a happy lad!

We took him to the stream and he loved splashing and running around in the water, it was a joy too watch! He walked beautifully on the lead, and we loved our walk with Roco.

We took Roco out for a walk again. He would brighten the cloudiest day with his lovely and funny ways. He loves rolling around in the grass, listening to birds but today we discovered his favourite game so far- "rescuing" sticks from the stream. We spend a long long time in the water and he picked up many branches and carried them to safety on the shore love4.gif

He is such a good natured dog, with lots of love in him. He's playful but understands when it's time to be calm and wait. A true star!
