Ruby, another sun worshipper, making sure she gets tanned all over. Clever girl! :cool.gif:

I know it's early days, but I think that at least some of the baggage Ruby arrived with at RR such as "shy, nervous girl", "not massively keen on being stroked", " pulls a little on the lead", is now well in the past. She loves her cuddles and is easy to walk. However, due to her background she still has a bit of a problem with meeting men.

Ruby is happiest being walked on a short lead. She is totally focused on her nose/scent and it's best to walk and exercise her off-lead only in a secure and enclosed area.

Ruby is obedient, affectionate, playful, enjoys her walks and lots of running around in the garden, then crashes out either lying on the floor or on a sofa. She is happy to spend the night in her basket in the kitchen with not a murmur, to be followed by a joyful reunion in the morning. Then into the garden to do her business, followed by breakfast. So far she's been left alone for up to an hour. When I return you'd think I'd been away for at least a year. No signs of distress or destruction.

She is very alert and aware of her surroundings, and would make a great watch dog. Ruby would be a wonderful companion for someone offering her a calm and understanding home. :please.gif: Kiss of love.gif

A couple of more photos for you to enjoy.

Ruby watching TV - I had the impression TV was a new experience for her, but that seems surely unlikely.

Ruby's patience was rewarded. The Sun has put his hat on . . . and as you can see much to Ruby's delight. :smiley-dance017.gif:

Portrait of a Lady (not by Henry James)

Ruby continues to make steady progress. She and I seem to be joined at the hip, and yet when asked to "sit and wait" anywhere, such as the bathroom, she just does, no whining or drama of any kind. As MrsP pointed out Ruby is "ridiculously obedient". That said I think there is a lot of terrier in her (but am no expert). As soon as she steps outside her nose goes down and she simply has to investigate anything of interest to her. At the same time she is very easy to move on. At this stage I don't think I would walk her off-lead, as her nose just might lead her astray. 0028.gif

Although a sun worshipper she still prefers to lie down by my feet if I don't want to join her outside. Every so often she will look up or try to climb onto the lap to remind me of her presence. Perhaps best not to encourage her as she will do everything to shower you with kisses on your lips - nowhere else will do. For some reason she is not a lap dog at all but sits quietly next to you when watching TV etc. She's always friendly - tail constantly wagging - always ready for some games or her meals or half my cheese sandwich at lunchtime. At bedtime she is happy to be put to bed and there won't be a peep out of her until the morning when there is no disguising her pleasure at seeing her human again.

Because of her abusive background some things - not always easy to identify but including suddenly raised voices - can still startle her a little. Ruby is totally clean and non-destructive in the house. Unlike some staffies (you know who you are!) Ruby has no interest in sticks and branches - your trees and bushes are perfectly safe! positivo1.gif
