Jack's Story: Jack was was taken from a druggie home covered in faeces, fleas and very neglected collected by the dog warden after a tip off: Norfolk. He came in a very frightened and dishevelled state in 2012! Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place. Jack is now neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Jack is in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £200. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Between other walks, I made three visits to Jack to sit and feed him sausages, to make friends. Then when I went into his run, he was waggy tailed and friendly, so I clipped his lead on the harness and off we went for a walk. He was quite happy with me, although I was careful. Jack is a lovely boy to walk, he bounces along in true staffie style, never pulled and ignored other dogs. He and Buddy walked well side by side. On return to kennels, I sat in the woods with him, and let him come to me. He does a nice sit, gave me his paw a few times and when the sausages stopped, he climbed into my lap and we sat quietly while I scratched his back and shoulders. He was no trouble to put back in his kennel.

I walked Jack not long after he arrived on Friday - such an easy boy on the lead, a real gent and happy walking behind Walter ...

Jack walked beautifully along with Isla (lurcher) this morning. He ambles quite slowly, Isla was happy to follow and both had a lovely relaxed walk. thumbs.gif

I walked Jack yesterday and as I had been told he could be a little wary around new people I fed him a couple of treats before I entered the kennel. As soon as I was inside he was jumping up at me in a very friendly way so I said hello and clipped the leads on and off we went.
He walks very well and as I talked to him he kept looking up at me as if he was listening and taking in all I said (well someone has to 0002.gif] )
He makes lovely snuffly sounds out walking and loves to stop and explore all the exciting smells. He is a lovely boy who with lots of love and attention will flourish. When I left later in the day Ella was in with him teaching him tricks in return for treats and he was a very willing pupil :goodjob.gif:
He is a proper little 'bloke' dog - reminds me a bit of Kevin (who all the walkers will remember fondly). Can't wait to meet him again if he isn't snapped up before next week love4.gif

Yes indeed Jack does remind me of Kevin. It was lovely to meet this chunky boy this afternoon, I was prepared to meet a very nervous dog but not a bit of it, in such a short period of time Jack's confidence seems to have grown which was good to see. He was reactive to the other dogs barking at him as we exited his kennel and also with a dog out walking but it is early days in a new environment so hopefully in time he will settle down. Jack has a lovely nature and enjoyed having a fuss made of him. He was patient and polite whilst waiting for his sausage treats at the end of his walk. love4.gif

If you're looking for a 'proper', chunky, hunk of a Staff, than Jack's your boy!

Jack is an absolute dream in his kennel. He usually jumps straight into his bed and raises a leg so that I can tickle him on his chest and tummy. He has the softest little face and he showers you in staffie kisses.

He plods along on his walks and has the best Staffie wiggle! He makes me laugh by just walking hahaha. He is doggo reactive and we had a good bark at Lucky (12 year old Doberman bitch at Guildford Site), but I gave them both plenty of space to pass, calmed Jack down after Lucky had walked out of sight and we continued on our walk.

He will need a home with experience of dog reactive dogs and will take the time to learn how to manage this and help Jack socialise with other dogs. He has already been in a previous kennels for 5 years and I'd hate for him to continue waiting even longer for his forever home. (He has roughly been in kennels since the age of 2.... I think we can all agree he needs a home soon)

Dinky little Jack is a gorgeous boy. He’s easy to take out his kennel and likes cuddles. He’s a handsome little man who potters along on his walk on a loose lead. He prefers quiet gentle walks and does sit when asked.

Jack can be reactive to some dogs and unsure of some humans so needs to build his trust slowly. Having said that if you keep him moving and praise him he seems to feel more confident. He walked past Basil fine. When we had to stop on a narrow path he was a little more reactive so just needs to trust and build his confidence around other dogs. He needs a quiet home with an experienced dog owner who has the time, love and patience to develop Jacks skills.

Gorgeous boy who needs a loving home xx
