Peggy-Sue's Story : Found stray/abandoned & unclaimed within a council pound: Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Peggy-Sue is neutered; chipped & fully vaccinated. Our vet examined her gait and concluded Peggy-Sue has 'bowed' back legs; We referred her to an orthopaedic vet who concluded she has lived with this and is not in pain. Reconstructive surgery could not be guaranteed to achieve perfect alignment and the 'process' of recovery would mean restriction and pain to Peggy-Sue so we have agreed to leave her with her wobbly gait. Peggy-Sue was boarding kennels nr Guildford and then in foster as an only dog in Coulsdon nr Croydon

PLEASE NOTE: Dog laws have changed with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to maintain dogs on lead in public spaces and manage encounters for at least 4 months until sure of their dogs instincts & skills, most of our dogs will need to be retained always on a lead, so as not to place dog's lives at risk, (Destruction or Control Orders are common place nowadays).

***PLEASE HELP OUR LONG STAY DOGS: Our min. adoption donation £175, which supports our work and Is non returnable. We will offer an alternative dog should our dog not settle given adequate time and reassurance. Rescue Remedies offers their dogs back up for life and exist on the goodwill of our supporters and volunteers.

Please click for Peggy-Sue's thread for regular updates, new pictures and videos. To apply to home a dog, you must be ready within 7 days and complete a homing questionnaire submitted Online We work fast to secure our dogs their loving homes and can be talking to up to 10 families at any one time. Please remain open: We have the dogs we have. Our dogs need a supportive family to offer patience, time & tolerance to allow them to settle.

Rachel and I took Peggy-Sue into the paddock last week to take a few photos, such a friendly, friendly girl and so responsive, she's obviously just met us but she'd be at one end of the paddock, and would come straight to us when called thumbs.gif

Hilbre and I walked Peggy-Sue and Missie together yesterday and they got on fine. During the walk the girls had a bathe (Missie and Peggy-Sue not Hilbre).

Peggy sue is a sweetheart. She doesn't like passing the other dogs through the kennel block so we take her out the back way - she can see the other dogs but has more space to avoid them. Well, apart from a little grumble at Hooch, she left the kennels pretty calmly - good girl Peggy Sue. It takes her a few minutes to relax when I walk her, after that she engages with me, we stop for a cuddle and off we go again. The paddock wasn't free - instead we went and sat in the shade on the bench. I gave her a bowl of water, she had some then put in her front paws, digging away to get a leaf out. She got pretty wet but it cooled her down and she had a blast. So nice to see her relaxed and being daft. I have a real soft spot for this girl. Xx

I had a lovely walk with Peggy Sue this morning. She is such a friendly happy girl, especially as we had 3 separate paddles in the stream to cool off.

Well good news for Peggy-Sue An orthopaedic vet Xrayed and examined Peggy-Sue's back legs. He concluded the issue isn't with the knees it the deformity with her legs; she is bow legged. On reflection he felt there was nothing to be gained by surgery. A specialist could 'wedge' her bones to bring a straighter fall to catch her weight but he felt there would not only be risks with this, but a prolonged period of awkwardness, discomfort and very little gain. Peggy-Sue is naturalised with what nature has given her. She can falter a little when running but she carries on as if nothing has happened. She doesn't carry a heavy body weight, she is optimal.

We researched her chip today to find she has had at least 3 homes in her past. She is already spayed. So today Peggy-Sue had her 2nd vaccination and came home. I had prepared a special room so she went in there anywhere, as we are very high on dog numbers currently. Tonight she is nestled on an old armchair watching the rain from her window.

Peggy sue is a brilliant girl - I love spending time with her. She's responsive, she grabbed my leads playfully but one uh uh and she stopped immediately. On our walk, if she starts to overly pull, again all I have to do is say uh uh and she slows down. We were out for quite some time today, the last 20 minutes I hardly knew she was at the end of the lead. We sat for 5 minutes in the shade, she sat on my feet licking my hands ever so softly. Peggy sue is a beautiful, playful, responsive girl who is a total pleasure to walk. X

I had a lovely relaxed walk with Peggy Sue this afternoon. She was so excited at the prospect of a walk she tried to put on her own leads and harness. I just asked her to sit and we were ready in no time. She was pulling with excitement for only about 5 minutes into the walk, then she relaxed and we ambled. I sat down in the cool of the woods and Peggy Sue just sniffed around for a while, then I called her and she backed into me and sat leaning on my leg, enjoying cuddles. She enjoyed a paddle as well as I know she loves the stream. I sat in her kennel for ages after our walk and Peggy Sue lay down and was enjoying having belly rubs. She is such a sweet, friendly girl who would thrive in a home with her own family to love.

I love Peggy sue, she's a delight! We went to the paddock, I climbed the steps of the new activity stairs in there, sat down, Peggy sue climbed up and plonked herself on my lap and gave my ears a gentle nibble!!!! We played ball afterwards, stopping for rolling on the grass in between throws (peggy sue was rolling......not me woo.gif] ). Playtime was followed by peggy sue having some water then paddling the water out with her paws - she loves this and has no qualms about getting me wet.......I quite liked it, was very humid today. Off we went on our walk and I've got to say how very, very, very impressed I am with her excellent manners. Kim was passing with her husband and a dog so I moved to the side and asked peggy to sit. Kim didn't realise we were waiting and stopped for a minute to chat with Lynne. Peggy sue just sat and waited, made no attempt to move and no reaction to the other dog. Even when they passed she didn't move. I told her she was such a good girl and was a show off blob6.gif]
