Hi Lynne

Hope you are well?

I checked with Buddy’s owners that they were happy to share with you which they are.

Sadly Buddy died peacefully at home on the 1st September, he had a very good life with his owners in Hove and will be very missed.

Kind regards

Rachel

Homed [/color]Budds' Story : Budds was handed in to a council pound by 'finder' as a stray but suspected owner: Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Budds is neutered; chipped & fully vaccinated. Budds was in Guildford Kennels but now in foster in Rustington as an only dog

PLEASE NOTE: Dog laws have changed with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to maintain dogs on lead in public spaces and manage encounters for at least 4 months until sure of their dogs instincts & skills, most of our dogs will need to be retained always on a lead, so as not to place dog's lives at risk, (Destruction or Control Orders are common place nowadays).

***PLEASE HELP OUR LONG STAY DOGS: Our min. adoption donation £175, which supports our work and Is non returnable. We will offer an alternative dog should our dog not settle given adequate time and reassurance. Rescue Remedies offers their dogs back up for life and exist on the goodwill of our supporters and volunteers.

Please click for Budds' thread for regular updates, new pictures and videos. To apply to home a dog, you must be ready within 7 days and complete a homing questionnaire submitted Online We work fast to secure our dogs their loving homes and can be talking to up to 10 families at any one time. Please remain open: We have the dogs we have. Our dogs need a supportive family to offer patience, time & tolerance to allow them to settle.

Budds' progress through our Rescue below
Original Referral information : We work with our dogs & often reveal a different picture & positive skills as they build trust. 31.12.16: Good morning all, hope you had a peaceful Christmas. We just have one boy in the pound at the moment. A wee Staffie - dinky proper type staff. Strongly suspect the "finder" was the owner due to some of his comments - including how he wasn't allowed dogs in his flat so believe that's why handed in. He said he had nicknamed the dog "Budds" and he responds to it so am assuming that is actually his name.

NEUTERED male. Very handsome young man, photos don't' do him justice. Budds is very very friendly and biddable. A pocket rocket he likes to whiz around, loved the agility jumps and adores fuss and attention. Been very friendly towards all people, plays fetch etc, will work for food and toys but isn't possessive over anything. Needs some training but isn't a complete thug.

That's the good side. On the negative side he has been reactive towards other dogs. However, we do feel it is something that could be worked with as he can be called away from them and so on. He's basically a gobby little toe-rag when walks past the other dogs. It's also something that wonder how much is in the kennel environment as he is hyped up there but my gut feeling is that he is under-socialised with other dogs and would need some desensitising. I do think very much that there is a very good chance of bringing him round otherwise I wouldn't be sharing him of course. He's such a nice little lad. Ax

Budds came to the vets yesterday for a check over, chip & vaccination. He behaved a little shy but accepting of 2 injections. Relieved to head towards the door. Budds was my front passenger for the day and really loved being in the front seat and no problem at all. A calm collected boy.

Budds then enjoyed the photoshoot in Sarah's garden above. Then we went to cat & chicken test another dog and Budds enjoyed the amazing scene himself. Am afraid I don't think Budds is for cats but very non plus about the chickens and did see and turn away from the cat in the shed where as the other cat he focused excitedly on

We travelled our long road back to kennels and he excitedly made his entry back in kennels which is overwhelming for him Quite a different boy outside and met dogs well through the crates in the dog mobile.

Budds is a cracking little dog and when I say little I mean little. He's barky at other dogs but all you have to give him is an "ah, ah, sit" and he does so immediately, knows "look at me" too, he's obviously had some love and support in his time (that or my dream of having dogs read my mind has come true wink.gif )
Johan took some more photos of Budd cos I hadn't seen he'd been to Sarah's!!! Oh well you can't have too much of a good thing, especially not this gorgeous wee laddo.

I had the pleasure of walking Budds today, as my final supervised walk. He was extremely wriggly to harness up, but I got there in the end. Like most, he was wound up by other dogs whilst leaving the kennel, but once outside the gate he was fine. He walked with Maisie and one of the terriers, and really didn't seem bothered by them at all. We passed one other dog walker and he didn't take any notice. He is quite small and dinky and easy to manage.

My first time walking Budds on Saturday. He initially got distracted with all the comings and going in the kennels whilst I tried to harness him - the treat in the hand with the harness worked and then off we went. To say this dinky little soul loves rolling around on his back is an understatement! Once just past the car park he was off rolling around and around, it was a joy to see; he is happy to have his tummy tickled and if he is not on his back and you're low down, he's leaning against you for some attention. We went for a short snuffle around the island and he was fine with the cyclist and passing two of the three RR residents (the last one got a bit of a bark).

Whilst walking I tried 'Budds' in high and low pitch and various other derivatives of Buddy type sounding names and none of them seemed to work for me (luckily it was quiet or people would have thought was a bit weird) but I did find that a tap on my leg did work to get him to turn and then say sit etc. A lovely little cuddle bucket.
