About Maisie: Maisie was emotionally shut down on arrival in November 2014 but slowly came out of herself to reveal the fabulous dog she is. She makes friends wherever she goes, and is a firm favourite with the volunteer kennel walkers. She has never been keen on other dogs, but out walking with them she is fine. Maisie doesn't like intrusive bouncy dogs, and will bark at them if she gets flummoxed; she is soon distracted back on her walk. Calm dogs she settles with. Maisie is not cat safe and needs to be an only pet. Maisie walks nicely on lead and so enjoys her walks and cuddles. She is totally people friendly like most Staffies, good with children out and about. Maisie is now a total cuddle monster and loves a good hug with kisses. She is one of those dogs that will roll in anything - she just loves to throw her legs in the air.
Maisie is a mature Staffie. She has had a hard life with 4 years of kennelling on top. Her coat is a golden red and she has the attractive greying black muzzle. Housetraining has remained throughout her kennelling. She loves to play with toys and let her hair down. This lovely girl just needs a chance and she will be an absolute darling in the home, and would so love to share your sofa. An experienced Staffie home will know they have won the lottery in stepping forwards for our bestest friend.
Known background: Maisie originally came from Essex where she lived in a flat and been bred and bred from. Maisie went to a Somerset rescue (2011) for 2 months but then was taken in by a Welsh Staffie Rescue who had her for over a year and improved her socialisation skills and general training. Maisie is now spayed, chipped and fully vaccinated. Maisie was in kennel nr Gatwick.
Maisie needs a supportive family to offer time and tolerance to allow their new dog to settle. Maisie needs a family who understands her impoverished past as a breeding machine and will support her adjustment back into a home setting after 4 years in kennels. Maisie needs to be an only pet. Maisie seems receptive and settled around children but not proven to live with young since her time in Rescue. NB Our Rescue asks owners to maintain dogs on lead in public spaces and manage encounters, as dog law changes place dog's lives at greater risk.
