Dotty's Story : Taken in as a welfare case by the RSPCA but they couldn't find her a rescue place so were going to put her to sleep. Our friends in Safe & Sound saved her life in July 17 and have been trying since to find her a deserved Rescue place: Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place. Dotty is now neutered; chipped and vaccinations in progress. Dotty was in boarding kennels nr Gatwick then moved into to foster with another dog & children
PLEASE NOTE: Dog laws have changed with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to maintain dogs on lead in public spaces, and manage and support encounters so as not to place dog's lives at risk, (Destruction or Control Orders are common place nowadays).
***PLEASE HELP OUR LONG STAY DOGS: Our min. adoption donation £175, which supports our work and Is non returnable. We will offer an alternative dog should our dog not settle given adequate time and reassurance. Rescue Remedies offers their dogs back up for life and exist on the goodwill of our supporters and volunteers.
Please click for Dotty's thread for regular updates, new pictures and videos. To apply to home a dog, you must be ready within 7 days and complete a homing questionnaire submitted Online We work fast to secure our dogs their loving homes and can be talking to up to 10 families at any one time. Please remain open: We have the dogs we have. Our dogs need a supportive family to offer patience, time & tolerance to allow them to settle.
Dotty's progress through our Rescue below
Original Referral information : We work with our dogs & often reveal a different picture & positive skills as they build trust. 30th Sept 17: Female "proper" SBT, about 6yo, unspayed. Welfare case from pound. Was removed from her home on welfare grounds by RSPCA Inspector acting as dog warden (there is no dog warden in this area). She was underweight, had very sore ears (swollen inside), skin and paws, and a swollen vulva. She has apparently been bred from a lot. She lived with a 12yo male SBT, her father. She was taken to a kennels being used as a pound kennels but the RSPCA Inspector could not find a space for her in any of the local RSPCA shelters so she was facing being put to sleep. One of our volunteer drivers works at this kennels and asked us if we could save her. We moved her to EBoarding in the middle of August where they have been looking after her. We put her on grain free food, hoping this would help her skin; she saw our vet and has had two or three further courses of ear drops. She has started putting on weight and is starting to look better. She is lovely with people and has a very waggy tail - but keeps catching the tip causing it to bleed. She has also recently started nibbling her paws. She has been a bit reactive to other dogs at the kennels, though the kennel manager says she has recently shown some improvement. Ax Safe&sound
Dotty comes on the 13th of December
Dolly Dotty Staffie DofB 2011 Bookham Surrey
Re: Dotty Staffie DofB 2011 Oxted W/E foster: spay recovery
Dotty arrived into our care 2 days ago. She came in much thinner than her pictures of the summer so has been losing weight. Today I took her to our vets for spay and full vet review. Dotty is 14.6 Kilograms about 5-6 kilos under weight
Our vet Laura took blood samples as she suspected a mal-absorption problem. Her bloods were near normal just lower protein reading. Whilst under GenAn. for her spay which was normal though she has had many litters: Laura had a look around for abnormalities. Her colon had some thickened stretches which showed she must have had diarrhoea and batches of colitis. She concluded that the intestines are not performing well and have a reduced absorption surface area and she is losing alot of the goodness she eats. Laura gave her a vitamin B injection to help this and she will have one every week for the next 4 weeks. Dotty was given a digestive powder to add to her meals. Dotty had patches of very sore skin so is now on antibiotics to help clear. Dotty's ear were chronically infected and cauliflowered so they were cleaned under anaesthetic. Dotty's claws we clipped. Her tail tip which shows signs of having broken down in past was cleaned.
Dotty is staying with Sarah to give her calm and help to recover.

Bless sweet little loving Dotty, such a sweetheart but boy oh boy does she need to gain some weight, so pleased to have her at home this weekend to give her some tlc
Perfectly housetrained
She went outside as soon as we arrived home last night and before bedtime, slept right through on my bed until 7 this morning when I awoke, outside for her business and more zzz’s now as she rests next to me in bed
See how painfully thin this little mite is... I popped on a Christmas jumper to keep her cosy Dotty snuggled up next to me on the sofa xxx
