Penny's Story: Penny was born to Judy (who we also rescued) and her Border Collie father. Her mother, Judy was given into a rescue with the other puppies. Judy then returned to her home after she was spayed. Penny was also neutered at an appropriate age. Sadly, both ultimately lost their home, as their elderly owner wasn't coping with so many dogs. Neither had been walked and they were overweight. Rescue Remedies offered Rescue places saving their lives. Penny is neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. She were in boarding kennels near Guildford whilst awaiting her new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

I met these two beauties yesterday and what a joy they are. They had already had a short walk with Charlie having been to the vet and then they posed beautifully for their photo shoot. They are clearly very bonded with each other but were quick to make friends and enjoy fuss and strokes. Penny was very keen to share my treats but was gentle and polite taking them. We then went for another walk. Judy likes to take the lead but keeps an eye out for Penny to make sure she is never far away. These girls loved their walk, loved human company and are gentle and friendly. Patience, love and time was all they needed to start to relax and enjoy what life has to offer again and thanks to the Guildford walkers, they got just that and are ready for a new home and a new life.

Penny walked with me today whilst Geoff took her Mum, Judy. We had to pop a slip lead on Penny eventually to take her out of the kennels as she is very timid at the moment. Once we were walking I stopped and put my preferred clip lead on her very gently and she was happy for me to do so and remove the slip lead and then we had a really lovely walk, Judy likes to be in the lead when they are not walking side by side, which is definitely their preferred option, and Penny is happy to follow. We went for quite a long walk and stopped half way round to give Judy a rest as she is quite overweight at the moment and therefore not very fit, and Penny likes to sit right beside her! Penny is in need of a good groom, she is very fluffy, and I gently pulled bits of loose fluff off her whilst stroking her and got a couple of lovely little licks from her, which was thrilling. I am really looking forward to walking these girls next week if they are still with us.

Judy and Penny's confidence is growing all the time and they are loving going out for walks. It is lovely to see how much they enjoy their walks, Judy in particular has a great time, preferring to walk in front but always checking to see if Penny is close by. Penny is just happy to follow wherever Judy goes. We took them down to the stream today as it was warm and Judy enjoyed a paddle and a refreshing drink. Penny was happy to watch and have a cuddle.

Geoff and I walked Penny and Judy today and heavens what a difference 2 weeks make! The first time we walked them they were so shy and anxious and nervous, today they couldn’t wait to get out! Penny’s coat is long and oh so soft, it does attract burrs and such like very easily, but Penny is very good about letting you pick them out. She is very caring towards her Mum, Judy, who is still rather unfit, so we stopped for sits and cuddles half way through our walk, and Judy had a nice lie down in the stream too. Penny is very gentle and has a lovely face, she quite likes her treats, and loves having her head stroked and her ears fondled. Very easy to walk, and has no problems passing other dogs.

These two are simply adorable - they’ve gone from being very scared to confident chunky explorers (working on explorer levels of fitness!). The experts at Rescue Remedies have worked wonders with these two (amazing work), they sit to be harnessed, love fuss and you can see in their eyes they’re taking their new walking world all in! See you soon for increasingly longer walks :smiley-chores002.gif: love4.gif .

Myself and Brenda enjoyed a walk with this lovely pair on Sunday, they did lead us a merry dance with harnessing, they were so overjoyed and happy, they found it hard to contain their excitement bless them, Penny in particular kept wanting to kiss us all the time, they gave us such a laugh. Once out and about they were very keen to get going, they do have a lot of life in them and gave us a good workout but they did settle down a bit after they had expended some of their energy. On the way back the heavens opened and we all got soaked right through, Penny and Judy did not like the heavy rain at all but they did enjoy a towelling down when we got back. A lovely pair of girls who are very connected to each other. love4.gif

Had another walk with the happy duo on Saturday, Linda had Judy and I had Penny. Much quicker at getting ready and out of the block this week, both girls although a bit rotund really enjoy their time out and have quite a bit of energy. This week we had a few rest/water stops as it was very warm and Judy pants a bit, she does get excited at the start of the walk. Penny knows sit and both paws especially if there is a treat involved (not too many though as have to watch her weight)! After spending a bit more time with them this week I could see their personalities coming out, both of these girls are lovely and really connected to one another.

Tanya and I walked the girls today and we noticed that they are getting fitter and have lost weight. It was quite a warm day and they loved going in the river. They are always so thrilled to get out for a walk. Penny in particular was very settled and easy to walk, Judy is a bit stronger still and even though she puffs away, tries to pull most of the time but is happier when out front.
