Pickle's Story: His family were moving onto a boat and they were worried about Pickle escaping because he'll sometimes bolt, so they gave him into our safe care. Pickle came to his family as a pup in 2011 when their son was eleven years old. He has mixed with a toddler and grandchild. He tolerates chickens and also lived with an ancient cat, which would sometimes take a swipe at Pickle when he was young, but Pickle never retaliated.

Up until the beginning of 2018, he lived with Rue, an elderly Chihuahua, and they never had issues. Rue liked to sleep with Pickle before he died. Pickle is a nice natured boy who's got such a happy disposition; he is more than happy to cuddle up to anyone on the sofa. Pickle was due to be rehomed with his owner's neighbour, who'd recently lost his dog, but the neighbour has had four fits, and the last one caused him to blackout, so he was admitted to the hospital. Due to his health, he now feels he can no longer take Pickle. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Pickle is neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Pickle is in boarding kennels near Guildford whilst awaiting his new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance, and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Pickle's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.

Plea for help as family had sorted a home out for Pickle but new owner's health failed and left Pickle without a home from the 3rd August 2018.

I had the pleasure of walking Pickle today. Such a friendly boy who was eager to get out on his walk. Pickle is a joy to walk and I found him great company. He loved the sights and sounds of the woods and then further afield there were more exciting smells that needed investigating. We met up with Helen who was out walking Glynis and completed our walk with them. The two dogs were happy to share their walk and were as good as gold walking nicely together. Gorgeous boy love4.gif xx

I walked Pickle for the first time today, wow what a wonderful friendly boy. Lovely greeting in his kennel very easy to harness and off we went. He had a good sniff in the undergrowth, and a munch on the grass. He is very connected with you, we stopped for a few treats and a cuddle. He did not mind the rain. Someone will be very lucky to adopt Pickle he is a georgious little terrier. angel13.gif]

I walked Pickle with Leeanne and Glynis, he was such a good lad on his walk. He was more interested in having a good sniff in the undergrowth, and of course having treats! He is very responsive when walking, he would make a wonderful companion to a lucky family :smiley-dance017.gif:

Me and Bertha have just had a lovely walk with Pickle and Elaine who is giving him a day out. He was very well behaved and apart from the odd bark at a couple of passing dogs we had a lovely calm walk together.

By the end of the walk they were very comfortable walking together.

What a wonderful day I have had with Pickle. He was very good in the car, and enjoyed looking out of the window. In a typical terrier way, Pickle explored every room in house, then the garden. After breakfast we met up with Ros and Berthea, after a few barks Pickle settled down and we had a lovely calm walk. Back at home I found out that he liked tea from a mug!. We were having a cuddle on the sofa, then he decided that he wanted what I had! We had a game of tug and war with his new toy that I got from the charity day, he loves to play and is happy to share his toy. He then got into serious mode and was doing his neighbour hood watch out of the window! We had another short walk , he was happy to have a roll in the grass, and a good sniff in the undergrowth. He had a little sleep after all his activities, I also joined him for a sleep on the sofa!. Pickle is such a happy little lad, not a all possive with food or toys, he gives lovely cuddles and kisses. He would make a wonderful addition to a active family, you have so much fun with him. Please consider this dear little lad for his forever home. :smiley-bounce016.gi:

Pickle was my first walk of the day, he was excited to be going out. He was a good lad at passing dogs, a few barks then settled down for a lovely walk. He loves to explore the undergrowth, and investigate all the new smells. Pickle likes to have a paddle in the stream. We stopped for a cuddle and a few treats. Please consider Pickle for his forever home, such a sweet lad. :crossfingers.gif:
