I walked little Zippy yesterday and once again he was a loving, friendly little dog once away from the kennel block. He is a little dog who really needs a loving, supportive home as soon as possible as he gets over excited by the sound and the sight of the other dogs. Despite all the care that the kennel staff give him he is a very stressed little dog and would just blossom with his own loving owner. Please someone consider this dog if you are thinking about homing a little terrier. He needs and deserves you. [cry.gif]

Zippy was a star today! We walked with Sasha (beautiful staffie girl), walked by Karen. Zippy took a minute or two to settle and decided at one point he was going to just lay on the floor and not move......cheeky monkey. However, with some gentle encouragement and Karen coaxing him with her tasty, chicken pieces, he was soon walking happily along. He trotted calmly behind Sasha, never once showing any aggression. He happily shared his space when it was time for treats. Zippy was relaxed and calm throughout the whole walk. I felt a bit mean when I had to take him back - he kept looking back waiting for Sasha, bless him. X

I enjoyed a lovely walk with Zippy on Friday. As always he enjoyed his walk through the woods. When we got to the Poets Hut he pulled to go inside. Bless his little heart, he jumped up on the sofa and fell asleep with the sun pouring through the window. Zippy finds kennel life quite stressful and obviously needed to catch up on some sleep. He was lovely and relaxed. When he woke up after his snooze he enjoyed a cuddle. Zippy is so affectionate, he melts my heart love4.gif . I felt so guilty returning him to his kennel but I left him with a toy I had brought in for him, some sausages and a chew. Hopefully that would have cheered him up. Someone is seriously missing out on a wonderful companion. xx

Isn't he gorgeous?

Basically, although Zippy enjoys his walks he much prefers cuddles and hugs in the Poet's Hut. He is a dear, dear little dog who is not enjoying the company and the noise of all the other dogs around him and who needs his forever home as soon as possible. :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif:

Zippy is a sweetheart. I was reluctant to post pictures of him with his muzzle on for fear of giving a false impression - and I'd hate that. Zippy gets agitated in his kennel by the other dogs noise and passing his kennel. So for his own safety and his kennel companions safety - zippy is now fully muzzle trained - which I personally see as a positive. If he sees another dog out on his walk, he can get overly excited but have no idea what to do with that excitement. His muzzle stops any problems from even starting. He can settle walking with another dog as you can see in my previous post and I'm pretty sure with regular, positive socialising, his excitement on meeting other dogs with become a lot less. Get Zippy away from kennels and he's a dream. He loves to be cuddled, made a fuss of and turns into a little lap dog. Of course it wouldn't do to show his kennel mates this side of himself - he has his kennel cred to maintain!! He walks beautifully - hardly know he's there. Zippy is a wonderful boy - I thoroughly enjoy spending time with him. Xx

Zippy is fast becoming my snoozing companion :smiley-rolleyes010.gif: :smiley-rolleyes010.gif: He just loves his chilling time in the poets hut and tries to catch up on his sleep. We had a lovely cuddle and I must confess to nodding off for a few minutes. We only woke up when I heard lisa, walking new boy charlie, go past. Zippy barely raised his head - I had to persuade the little pickle to go and say hi. No reaction from zippy to Charlie's presence other than a polite hello......and insisting he follow them for our walk. I let him do this for a minute or two but then veered a different way. Charlie is new and settling - I wanted him to just enjoy his walk without having us behind him. I always find Zippy to be a total sweetheart and an easy boy to walk. Xx

Zippy really does need cuddles to reassure him that all is well. He trotted out for a very short while but then stopped and wanted cuddle and treat time which we had in the poet's hut. He is a loving, friendly little dog who needs an owner who will work with him and make him feel confident, happy and secure. angel13.gif]

Am so pleased to have met Zippy who joined Lynn, Charlie, Deborah and me for tea and doughnuts! He was a very polite boy and absolutely loved sharing his picnic - he's pretty partial to chicken, sausage and as a treat a tiny bit of doughnut! So gentle. We trotted off for a lovely walk. He lay down twice but it only took a little encouragement, a gentle stroke and the promise of a treat to get him going again. Zippy is a sweetheart - I look forward to walking him again soon Heart fill with love.gif]

Despite Zippys bravado in his kennel - he's the sweetest little boy. He has a vulnerability about him which makes him very endearing. More than anything else in the world, he wants to be cuddled and to know he's 'safe'. His quiet time in the poets hut is when he (and me) catch up on our sleep. The sun was streaming through the window, Zippy was snoring on my lap and I thought, can life get anymore more perfect than this moment. Absolutely adore this beautiful boy. X

When I first when in to get Zippy out today, he was a pickle for me (he's never been a pickle for me before). I thought I'd let him settle down and then try again later. I realised afterwards, I'd got to kennels really early and Zippy hadn't had his breakfast when I'd tried to get him out. I'd turned up at his kennel with just a few pieces of sausage - when he was expecting his breakfast!! Silly me!!! Anyway, when I went back to get him later, he was absolutely fine. We went for our usual snooze in the poets hut - I love my time with him in there. We cuddle, I tell him what a very special boy he is, and always remind him that he is a very good boy - which he loves to be told.xx.
